The Government has confirmed further delays to the widely anticipated social care green paper. In a statement at Parliament, Health and Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt described health and social care as 'two sides of the same coin'.
"It is not possible to have a plan for one sector without having a plan for the other".
The Government explained that they wanted to integrate health and social care and that it would not be right to start work on the Green Paper before a NHS plan had been drafted.
Unfortunately the same logic was not applied when announcing the forthcoming funding increase for the NHS with social care finances left completely in the lurch.
